Ellen has practiced labor and employment law exclusively since 1975. Chair, Labor and Employment Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, 1998-99; Chair, Los Angeles County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section Symposium Committee, 1995; Member, State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section, Executive Committee; Member, Coalition of Labor Union Women. Lectured on collective bargaining for the UCLA Institute of Industrial Relations, AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, Orange County Industrial Relations Research Association, and Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Member, Board of Directors, 1981 to present, ACLU of Southern California; Member, Board of Directors, ACLU Foundation of Southern California; Chair, ACLU/SC Workers' Rights Committee. Staff counsel, United Farm Workers of America, 1976-79, and International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, 1979-80.
