For six years before entering law school, Maria worked as a union organizer for the Service Employees International Union, Local 535, a statewide local representing health care and social services workers throughout California. Maria organized unrepresented workers in various industries in the private and public sector, developed contract campaigns, and negotiated collective bargaining agreements for bargaining units in Southern California.
